Haggling in the street shops of the old city usually brings to mind items of a religious nature when it comes to souvenirs.  When we were there last year for holy week however, we discovered a shopping opportunity of a different nature.

Ibrahim Bader and his son run a charming little custom, ethnic and limited edition jewelry shop called The Coral Beach. Full of hospitality, tasteful jewelry and a fair amount of high end traditionally styled furniture, this store is a nice break from the hustle bustle of the rosary, yarmulke and prayer carpet stalls in the rest of the old city.

Eager to chat, offer selection advice and even open to working with shop owners elsewhere who want to order certain collections for their stores back home, Ibrahim is a true pleasure to spend time with. The Coral Beach is located in the Christian Quarter, around the corner from the Holy Sepulcher. El-Khanqa St. 32 Old City, Jerusalem. Telephone: 972(02)-628-4774.
