Travel Tip: Negotiating Security “Securely”

David and I sort of naturally fell into this as a pattern of travel behavior, but it is worth making it part of your mental “check list” when traveling with a partner.

Airport security is there for just that - the airport’s security. Not yours. If you have small valuables in the screening basket and you don’t get through the “beep machine” in time to snag them as soon as they come off the conveyor belt, they could be long gone. If you are traveling as a twosome however, you can put all of your smaller things in one basket and have the second person hang on to them until the last minute while the first person walks through. If the second person gets delayed, the first person can be there to scoop up the items for both of you and get a spot out of the way until you are both cleared and can start putting yourselves back together again. Solo travel is getting tougher all the time, so if you have a trustworthy and responsible someone to travel with, try to make them a consistent road buddy when you’re on the go.
