Bar Review: The Station in Bangkok Thailand

Located on the main drag between Khoasan Road and Soi Rambutri, this watering hole is truly unique.
Formerly a gas station, the owners have sectioned it off with portable gate sections and plants. The tables and chairs match the yellow and red paint job from the former gas station, which has been left as is, peeling spots and all. There’s a bar cart and a metal shipping container that opens up to reveal beer coolers. A recent snack menu has also been added. Candlelight and international music abound.
It took me a while to appreciate what they are trying to do here, especially since if you pop by during the day, the atmosphere won’t exactly “grab you”. But by evening with the candlelight, greenery and music, it’s much more appealing. Basically, they took the rough, edgy, run down urban scene and made it their theme.
The drinks are great, and you can buy regular well drinks by the bucket and frozen cocktails by the giant jug. If you happen to be staying in that area anyway, check it out later in the evening. Quite fun and a bit of a get away from the hustle bustle on the other side of the plant wall.
