With a cute outdoor courtyard for customer seating, menu items with an Italian flair, and an eye for visual presentation, La Fonda de Santiago is a hit with both David and I.

In fact, we’ve been there twice during our short stay in Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca in Peru. And we’re heading there for lunch again this afternoon. The first night, I had the lamb chops in a mushroom wine sauce which comes with homemade pumpkin stuffed ravioli. David had the spinach stuffed rolled fillet of trout with quinoa croquets and steamed broccoli. Both entrees were artfully presented and tasted fantastic. The next day we went back for a lunch. I had the basil, tomato and mozzarella caprese on wheat, and David had the marinated eggplant and zucchini sandwich. They each came with homemade potato chips and salad. We polished them off with Italian coffee and biscotti. All for under 10 bucks. The more elaborate dinner including cocktails and appetizers was still under 30 USD.

We give La Fonda de Santiago two thumbs up!
