This is a fairly extensive set of pre - Incan ruins located between Puno and Juliaca. The main elements you will notice upon visiting the site?
The nearly 100 chulpas of varying sizes and intricacies.
They were apparently used as funerary towers.
It is also considered a major energy center by many of the local indigenous people, including our guide, who led us in an ancient pre-Incan energy exercise in the Sillustani temple of the sun. (David got part of this on video. We’ll try to get it up on youtube.com soon. Check for some of the other video clips from the trip under his user name “astroguyz”.)
After Sillustani, we headed back to Puno, stopping along the way to visit a local family and were given a chance to see up close how they live.
