Day Two: El Paso to Dallas

With very little sleep but lots of enthusiasm, we drove from El Paso to Dallas – Fort Worth. There’s not much in West Texas, including traffic.

So we made great time, arriving about two hours ahead of schedule. We had a great overnight visit with our friend from Guam, Jenny, who just bought her first home in the area. Pasta, wine and salad for dinner followed by  coffee and dessert,  relaxing with Christmas carols by the tree was a perfect end to along day. The dogs enjoyed playing in the back yard, especially since it was their first outside time sans leash in a couple of weeks.

We’re also noticing something else with the dogs . . . the jig is up. By about the third pet stop of the day, they were no longer anxious to get back in the vehicle. In fact, they were digging in their heels and protesting loudly to the contrary. It’s looking like it’ll have to be doggie valium to the rescue for the rest of the trip. Hey, whatever works, right?
