Nomadic Security: The Bra Stash

I saw my travel guru friend Donna use one of these years ago during a trip we took together to Egypt. Foolishly, I assumed that when I was ready to buy one, they’d be easy to find. Not so.

After looking in the travel section of nearly every mainstream store, by the waist pouches, space bags and luggage tags, and reviewing a few travel specific web sites and gear stores as well, I finally found one at Amazon.Com .

While I won’t actually be using it until we hit the road, I’m relieved to have this little item crossed off my list. It doesn’t tend to be as noticeable to your basic street mugger, because you tuck it into the side section of your bra and hook the strap(s) around the corresponding shoulder strap. My friend always kept a decent supply of extra cash there that she never used. That way, if she got mugged and robbed of everything else, she had enough to see her through until everything important got replaced . . . traveler’s checks, ID, etc.

I’ve always felt that I’d feel more secure if I had one, but could never find one for sale until now. If there are any female road warriors out there with a bra safe story to tell, please feel free to share. I’d love to hear your comments.

I actually wear Lane Bryant bras on a regular basis and they have a pocket where “air bags” are supposed to go. I don’t need air bags, so I just use the little pocket when I travel or go to bars to keep money and IDs safe.

This may only work for larger chested girls, though, as the stiff IDs and credit cards don’t really stick out too much on my frame.

    Hi Lauren.

Great tip! I never knew that about Lane Bryant bras. I’ll have to check them out. Thanks for stopping by and sharing the info.
